Dr. Owen Day obtained his Bachelor’s in biochemistry from Oxford University in 1988, and his masters and doctorate in marine biology from the University of Wales in 1991 and 1996 respectively. He is a founder member and director of the Buccoo Reef Trust, an environmental NGO based in Tobago that focuses on marine research, education and conservation in the Eastern Caribbean. He has spent the last 10 years developing the programmes of the Buccoo Reef Trust, which currently employs 15 staff working on local and regional projects. In the last four years his research has focused on the threat of climate change and the production of documentary films as part of an effort to make environmental sciences more accessible and relevant to the Caribbean public. He is currently the Chief Technical Officer, and Head of Communications and Biodiversity for the CARIBSAVE Partnership.
